A Thriving Modern City

Valencia is a major Mediterranean port and is now Spain’s third largest city. It has been occupied by a variety of civilisations over the years and as a result boasts a wide selection of Gothic, Roman, Moorish and Modern architecture. The historic centre has been restored and many of the ancient buildings have been converted into restaurants, bars, shops and galleries.

As you would expect from a thriving modern city break such as Valencia, there is a wide range of Spanish and international cuisine options available. Paella remains the speciality prepared with locally cultivated rice and fresh seafood. Most eateries are particularly busy from 10pm onwards as the Spanish working day still involves the ‘Siesta’. The towns beaches are clean, well looked after and supervised and offer a pleasant break away from the city bustle.
