Greek island of poetry, song and love
Relax on the beautiful white sandy beaches of Zante (also known as Zakynthos). Sample local hospitality, good food and wine in mountain villages, and explore monasteries tucked away amongst the greenery.
The Greek island of Zante is a part of the Ionian Islands and was home to Dionysios Solomos (writer of the Greek national anthem), from which comes its reputation as the island of poetry, song and love.
Zante's main town is picturesque, curving around a bay dominated by a Venetian fortress and the St Dennis Cathedral. The town's main square, Solomos Square, is lined with reconstructed neoclassical buildings reminiscent of those in St Mark's Square in Venice.
Beach holidays on Zante are perfect for swimming, water sports and serious sunbathing, or go to see loggerhead turtles nesting on amazing beaches near Laganas and Kalamaki.
